| A little bit about Riverview Florida History | ||||||||||

Riverview was
founded in 1856
on the Alafia
River's south
shore. It was
then known as
Peru because of
the Peruvian
Mining Company,
which mined
various mineral
from the Alafia.
The area's first
school was built
in 1893, inside
the Peru Baptist
Church. The
Riverview name
first came into
usage in the
early 1940's.
Some of
Riverview's
settlers include
the Bourgees,
Boyettes,
Hackneys,
Mansfields,
Moodys, Scotts,
Thompsons,
Whitts, and the
Yeomans. The
area founded by
the Boyette
family is now
Boyette,
Florida.
